Can I install Navigon on none-stock Android?
Hello,

I got Navigon automatically installed when I upgraded my Vodafone SGS I9000 from 2.1 to 2.2.

Would I be able to re-install it or somehow keep it around after installing a hacked ROM? (e.g. CM7 etc)?

Thanks.

yep for sure you can.
Google Maps navigation is just an app so can just be downloaded and installed like all other apps.
It seems like this is the way google is going to try and stop people being left behind from manufactures not updating phones

Samsung Galaxy S: CM9
Viewsonic G tablet: Gtabcomb 3.2beta
iPad 2

Thanks but this is not the software I was asking about. I know Google Maps is available from the market but I was asking about Navigon (http://www.navigon.com), a not so cheap proprietary GPS software which came bundled with the Samsung Galaxy S 2.2 update and with an advantage of having the maps available on the phone itself so it's less dependent on having data connection.

Thanks. I guess you are right and I'll just have to try.

I just called them this morning about downloading US maps while in Australia and the guy who answered didn't sound knowledgeable so I didn't bother him about this question.

The other way to do it would be to use a backup app (like titanium backup) and backup your apps, then restore them to the new ROM.

Phone: SGS
ROM: Ryyuu's EDB v1.3
Kernel: Dark Core
Modem: XXJVQ

Thanks, I was wondering whether this would work. I'll try that if/when I get around to upgrade.
