i have heard some bad things about the hardware on the xoom. just really poorly finished

actually not too surprised with that honestly, if anything, I thought it was a shock that Motorola decided to use stock Honeycomb, rather than factor in Motoblur into the mix.

I think it's good they left it with stock honeycomb...
I'm not a fan of Motoblur.

Just be careful with that USA version.

The USA 3G is CDMA and is NOT compatible with Australia. You are best waiting for the Telstra or Optus versions coming out the end of this month

If you're going to use 3G, yeah.
If you are just going to buy it to use Wi-Fi then just turn CDMA off and keep it in 2G mode so it doesn't constantly poll for data (even when there isn't a sim in it).

I got to set one up at work yesterday .. it actually felt like quite a solid unit and the while I didnt get to spend a lot of time with it the touch sensitivity was quite good .. better then the acer aconia for sure. Like William I am not a big fan of motoblur either so I've crossed this tab off my list .. also because it doesn't have expandable memory.

Don't dismiss this tablet so soon Peter. Fortunately, Motoblur doesn't come on this Tablet. Smile

It's only the expandable memory bit that is still deterring me.

Yeah .. I've been playing with our demo unit all morning .. starting to really like the UI .. noticed it doesnt have motoblur but you beat me to the chase.

Will have to keep it in mind .. the build imo is solid which goes against other reports I've heard about its hardware feel.

I am still contemplating one of these. I don't know if the weight will be an issue though.

Well, that and the expandable memory slot still not working! haha.
