Backup using clockworkmod
Evening all!

Yes, I have finally succumbed to rooting my SGS (using superoneclick root), any longer and this thing would've been embedded in the gyprock wall opposite me!

now, I am attempting to backup the stock Froyo ROM using clockworkmod, although when the phone reboots into Download mode, standard recovery options come up instead of the CWM backup, any idea on how to get this working?

Thanks in advanced ppl! Smile

RE: Backup using clockworkmod
okay, so when you boot into recovery is it recovery 2e?

Also, one way you can do it is to download Rom Manager from the market (free version is enough for what you need it for). Within Rom Manager you can download the latest CWM and reboot into it. which you can then run the backup.

This doesn't replace your recovery mode, and will only work if, with in recovery 2e, you choose install update.zip and then select "Update.zip" from your SD card (this is CWM that Rom Manager downloaded). but again, this won't replace your stock recovery and every time you want to get into CWM you need to repeat the process.

Another way would be to flash a custom Kernel like Voodoo, Speedmod or Darky's Dark Core. Voodoo is probably the safest and friendliest for those that don't know much about kernel flashing..

Hope this helps.

Phone: SGS
ROM: Ryyuu's EDB v1.3
Kernel: Dark Core
Modem: XXJVQ

Thanks for that man! Will definitely try the Rom Manager, got it right now, just gotta run my battery down as it's almost dead, so will report back once I got it all working Smile

either way, I might be getting either an HTC Incredible S or Xperia Arc in the next cpl of months, so I hopefully won't need to worry about root/flash rom Tongue

RE: Backup using clockworkmod
According to me,I tried to use the backup stock to upgrade Froyo ROM clockworkmod, although to enter download mode, the phone will restart and recovery options come standard CWS backup, any idea how to get this to work, not?
