RE: Acer Iconia A500
From what I understand the Xoom weigh's much the same as the Acer. They are both around the 1.5 pound mark.

I'm starting to lean towards the acer despide the Locked Boot Loader.

Phone: SGS
ROM: Ryyuu's EDB v1.3
Kernel: Dark Core
Modem: XXJVQ

RE: Acer Iconia A500
To be honest the weight is a non problem, I use mine sitting on my lap or it is on a table and I can't think that any tablet would be comfy to use any other way.

What a scumbag store, this is just one of the many reasons I will never buy anything from Gerry Harvey.

RE: Acer Iconia A500
I purchased A501 last week at The Good Guys, Kawana. $339.00 for 16gb 3G WiFi. So there must be a new model coming but the price was too good to pass up and frankly it has everything I need. There was an upgrade available to Honeycomb 3.2 that took me several attempts to download and install and it looks like the key steps were to do a factory reset, enable USB debug, allow non market apps and make sure it was connected to the power adaptor and then it worked.
previously I had a 7" Android tablet (Chinese. Clone running android 1.6) but it was a cheap intro to android.
Anyway I'm wrapped in the Acer and the 10" form factor. Found affordable leather cover on eBay which should arrive soon which will make travelling with it safer.

RE: Acer Iconia A500
I have the A501 and am quite satisfied with performance and features ( that full size USB is just great). Weight is not a problem for me. I prefer using Swype for text input. I find it fast and accurate. Battery life could be better but its a great unit and will do me for quite some time. I'm looking forward to ics but I'll just have to be patient. (I read somewhere that some tablets are just getting their 3.2.1 update) Several of my friends have the iPad ....... I prefer mine!
