Darky's Rom 10.1 - Modem Issues/question

So I've flashed my phone to this over the weekend and am so far very happy for the most part.

The only downside is that my data connection when not operating though my wifi at home appears to have gone to shit. Not that it was ever very good.

So I'm located in Elizabeth, a little ways north of Adelaide - metropolitan area and I'm with Virgin.

I used whatever the default modem was when setting up in Darkys.

1. Can I change the modem without redoing the whole phone?
2. Which modem would people recommend using in this area? And where do I get it?

Hi Marauder,

I was on Darky's 10.1 fo0r a while but changed to Tweaky's rom. Not for any particular reason. Just for something new.
I had Issues like that when I flashed 10.1 but it worked itself out after I cleared cache and dalvik cache in recovery and rebooted a few times.

The modem I use is ZSJPG. I have found it to give me the best battery life with the best signal strength.

From memory you will need to set everything up again. I'm pretty sure it does a factory reset when applying modems. I can't remember, I have this on my SDcard always and just flash it straight after I flash a rom.

Am running this modem now - with no problems.
Turns out though that the problem was that updating my phone lost my APN settings - thus no mobile data.
Funny that I never lost them when I installed 9.5 originally - which also involved a wipe of the phone.
Googled them and all is now good.

Sometimes the rom's don't include a multi-CSC. which is why your apn settings are lost.

If you ever need them again for whatever reason Ausdroid.net has an apn section fort all Australian providers.
