William's First Rom

Hi Everyone,

I have had my galaxy S for quite some time now and you all know I like to customize mine up a little.

I have tried pretty much every rom out there and was beginning to get bored of them all. So what was I to do next? Build my own of course!!

Here is the link to the XDA thread for my newly baked ROM.

Head on over there and check it out. It's based on JVP so you'll need to have Gingerbread bootloaders for it to work.
You can see the feature list over there too.

I hope you can check it out and give me some feedback!

I have just updated my Rom to v1.1

A couple of things have changed. There is also a wipe and No-Wipe version.

Just updated the ROM to v1.2

Okay, been running 1.1 today - mostly quite nice.
Can't say I'm seeing any battery life improvements but it's early days and I'm trying to re-establish the battery readings.

Just installing 1.2 and I'll see what I see. This time I'll spend some time trying to work out what I like better or less than Darkys.

Am I mad or is the lockscreen selector gone? I spent some time looking for it earlier today.

Something in 1.2 isn't happy for me. I'm getting regular - at least 1 an hour and more when I'm messaging (SMS) telling me-
The application Email (process com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

This also happens when I click on the email icon in the launcher.
Loading up Appbrain and checking for updates I'm told that Social Hub needs to be updated.

I tell it to update and I'm taken to an app - MTS Mobile Email in the market which the description reads as:
Email App Client for MTS Subscribers.
This app for MTS Russia subscribers only! Это приложение предназначено только для абонентов МТС.

Methinks something is a little wonky here.
If I just uninstall the email app (I only use gmail on the phone) will that break anything critical?

You don't need to uninstall the email app.

Just go into Settings > Applications > email > Clear Data.
This will stop the email app FC-ing. :-)
