RE: which custom roms can i flash to?
alright sick as =). i'll try the flash to Ficeto and then to Darky's v10.1 and see how it goes.
i just had one more question. does my phone have to be unlocked to be able to successfully flash? i currently have my phone rooted and have the Galaxy S Unlock app by Helroz which can unlock my phone. should i do this step and unlock my phone, or should i leave it as it is? the guide says root is not needed, but i'm not sure about having a locked phone.

Root isn't needed but locked or not... it doesn't really matter.
Personally, I would unlock first. But seeing as this will wipe your current firmware it shouldn't really matter. Play it safe, Unlock first. Phone: SGS ROM: Ryyuu's EDB v1.3 Kernel: Dark Core Modem: XXJVQ |

I really like playing with this sort of updates, firmwares but after my SGS bricked the first time I ever tried I have been hesitant to install anything other than via Kies, how weird is that??
Being very patient waiting for 2.3 but I may weaken over this weekend. :-D So tempting. Pete |

RE: which custom roms can i flash to?
hey guys, SUP?!
GOOD NEWS WHOOOOOT. flashed the Ficeto 2.3.3 firmware =). it is SMOOTH. i actually had a major problem with my phone a few days before i flashed the Ficeto base. i was backing up my SMS and all that...then for some reason all the applications kept freezing my phone, to the point where TWlauncher didn't even respond to anything, so i couldn't even get to my menu anymore. as soon as the phone loaded to the menu, it told me to force close contacts, messages, some random Google application and etc...pretty much everything stopped working. the only way i could stop it from looping the force close window was to go into the dialpad, so at least i could call...has anybody else had this problem on 2.2? so i decided, wth, i'll just flash it seeing as my phone is beyond usable anymore. i'm all good on 2.3.3 now though =D. thanks for the help with understanding the firmware and what means what!! i haven't flashed to Darky's rom yet, i think i'll stick with the Ficeto firmware for a while first. it looks pretty basic but it's good enough for me atm my phone is still alive! haha. thanks guys =) i9000 Ficeto JVH PDA: i9000XWJVH Phone: i9000XXJVO CSC: i9000XEEJV3 |
