I9000XWJG5 released
Hi all,

New firmware has been released for the Galaxy S. Below is a quick changelog.

New European FW - I9000XWJG5
Changelog:
- improved energy management in suspend mode
- updated YouTube, Google Maps
- Change Low-memory Killer Thread
- many minor fixes


Many people have been noticing HUGE changes in battery life and the lag/stalling issue is apparently almost non-existent!


Note: When flashing this firmware please use the attached .pit file.
If you do not know how to flash your phone, please read this guide.
If you have any doubts please ASK QUESTIONS!

Your a legend william. Does doing a firmware upgrade wipe the data from the handset?

Yes it does as you need to check the "Re-Partition" option in Odin3

just to make sure do you need to root the phone first?
and is the SGS a sim unlocked phone?

You do not need to root the phone first.
And yes, the SGS is a Sim unlocked phone from optus. The carriers usually lock the phones if they want them locked, not the manufacturers.

Read up on my Flashing guide before attempting anything please!

Make sure you use the .pit file I have supplied as the one that is on the Flashing guide does not work!
