Children's Tablet recommendations?
So we decided our 3 year old has enough "toys" and are thinking of getting him a cheap android tablet and children's camera for Christmas. He'll be 3 1/2 at Christmas. He can already use Mum's iphone and Dad's SGS, as well as flash games using the mouse and arrow keys on the PC.
Tablet will mainly be used for playing games / spoken books (and for downloading/viewing his photos!), with occasional movie playing gaffa-taped to the back of a seat for long car rides. Any recommendations for a <$300 tablet (if possible?). I know most of the cheaper tables have resistive screens - I've never used one personally but have been advised that they require some pressing to activate and have slow response so probably wouldn't suit a young child? Does the Nook Color have a capacitive screen? Parents - any experience/advice? Our main concern was controlling his use - as he regularly nags for TV/play with mums/dads phones. He only gets about an hour of such a day - either after lunch as quiet time or when we are preparing dinner. So we figured we'd allow an hour of use before dinner and thats it - hopefully once he realises he only gets to use it at 5/5:30pm he won't nag during the day!? |

RE: Children's Tablet recommendations?
i have a viewsonic Gtab and for the price they are quite good. tegra 2 521ram 16gb. usb micro sd and other bits. they sell them in the states for around $240 so you can get them on ebay for around $270-300 if you find a good deal. but if you dont mind a bit of tinkering i would say go the HP touchpad and put android on it, or leave it as is.
