We just got an Ipad
Dont freak out it was given to us as a gift.
And i have to say after playing with it for the last few days, i dont see what all the fuss is about and both me and the lady think our android tablet is easier to use and more useful. Our main gripes are as followed Personally i dont like itunes and dont use it. It to big and solw and really do know why i had to install it before i could use the ipad, it just seems stupid. now on to the app store. IT SUCKS! while yes i agree that there is nice looking app on the Ipad than my android tablet the app store is just a POS to try and navigate around and search, and the version on itunes is not much better but is made worse by the fact that you have to hook up the ipad to the comp to put the aps on it. Our last major problem is no flash. TBH the main thing we use our tablet for is internet and watching catch up TV in bed. which are all flash based so it kind of kills that. on the plus side, the battery life in stand by is fantastic! i can see it sitting on the couch while we watch TV and getting a good work out on the net but by no means are we getting rid of our almost half the price of the ipad android tablet. RE: We just got an Ipad
I've had my iPad nearly a year now and I love it. It's far from perfect but it works for what I need. Having said that, I'm pretty sure when it is up for replacement I'll be getting a 'droid.
PS you don't HAVE to install apps via iTunes, you can do it from the App Store app on the device. As for iTunes ..... it is one of the worst software products on the planet. Slow, buggy, bloated ..... Been an iPhoner for 4 years - but never a fanboy, recently converted to Android thanks to the HTC Sensation

RE: We just got an Ipad
Yeah, I was given an iPad2 16gb wifi a couple of weeks ago, and I quite like it.
I don't think iOS is any better than Android (it's worse in many ways, perhaps better in some others), but there's just something about the iPad2 that is appealing to me. My only ongoing experience with Android tablets has been my Iconia Tab A500; it's heavy, feels awkward to hold, and it's thick as hell. None of that seemed to bother me too much, but when I held the iPad2... whatever advantages the ITA500 offered just seemed largely irrelevant. Add to that the fact that I've yet to see an app on Honeycomb that really blows me away (and isn't available on the iPad), and it's a difficult thing for me to say "Android, definitely Android" whenever someone asks me what kind of tablet they should get. But, hey. I need to get out there and try some more Android tablets. There are obviously nicer hardware options than the ITA500 out there (Samsung in particular). I really like Honeycomb as an OS - I think it's superior to iOS for someone like me - but for the bulk of the market (and this is something you can't just ignore when arguing about what's better), I really think the wider range of incredibly creative apps on iOS make it a more appealing option. For now. I'm really hoping that with the advent of ICS, Google will find ways to make it a more appealing platform to develop for. Right now, iOS is the cool one. It's the one developers want to work with, and grud knows it must be easier for them than trying to accommodate the different versions of Android and the dozens of different resolutions. I'd love to see Google subsidise the development of new apps for Android, and the porting/converting of existing popular iOS apps. They need to say "alright, we're going to fund X percentage of the development of App Y for Android, and we'll take 5 cents from every sale (or from ad revenue on the free apps) until that investment is paid back." Then, BAM. Android gets the apps it deserves, and nobody loses or perceives the potential loss of money. |

No offense, but you chose a pretty bad Android tab to compare to the iPad 2 Compare something in the same ball park - GalaxyTab 10.1 Thinner and lighter than the iPad 2 my sole gripe with it is I love the iPad 2 smart cover, but that's no big deal. The fact that Apple is relentlessly trying to block the sales of Galaxy Tab 10.1 means that they think there is something very major to worry about and there certainly is |
