RE: How to Root Galaxy S
Alright, I'm working through this and I've gotten to step 6 of part 1 and I get that I'm meant to wait, however, I've been waiting for over an hour and it's still not doing anything...
On Odin it does say 'Set Partition' if that's any help...

RE: How to Root Galaxy S
Alright, so did the whole thing (PS if the above does happen to you, then simply close Odin and restart it).
Just wondering whether there are a few things I could ask about the MOD:
1. Can I get rid of my extra homescreens? The old method of 'more' -> 'edit' then dragging them to delete isn't there.
2. Is there a way I can change the bottom three things (Phone, Apps & Internet) to say contacts, apps and messaging or some such?
3. If not, what's the go with this? Is it being updated constantly? Should I be paying a lot more attention to what's going on as far as xda developers? (Sorry for the ignorance, like I said, I'm pretty new to all this)
4. Finally, can I get my contacts using Kies again? I backed them all up there (I thought I did using another app, but apparently I messed it up somehow)

Ok - I've been running this for a couple of weeks ago now.

AFAIK - at least with the version of Launcher (the home screen app) which comes with Darky. I don't know off hand if there's a paid version which gives you customisation options or not.

Based on this-
1. No - you don't seem able to.
2. No - you don't seem able to.
3. Regarding what? Yes, it's being updated. 9.5 seems to be 3or so weeks old as the official release but in that time they're updated the dark voodoo kernal at least 3 times from 1.0 to 1.3 - They've got a beta release of v10 which is 2.3.?? don't remember - it's Gingerbread instead of Froyo. I've not tried that one yet - perhaps in a few weeks if I'm feeling brave.
4. To be honest I've no idea. I've not tried using it since I started using Darky's. Why aren't you using a google account to sync your contacts? As soon as I set my phone's google account all my contacts and calendar entries were back on my phone. I realise that doesn't help you any - sorry. Smile I'm pretty sure I've seen some people in the Darky forums saying that they have Kies working, but I'm not 100% certain.

On the launcher - there's an app - Home Switcher for - which is park of Darky's which allows you to choose which home app you want to use. If you don't like Launcher - then go back to the default launcher which will let you add/remove screens.

RE: How to Root Galaxy S
Just to re-iterate. With the stock launcher ( Android Launcher) you can NOT delete home screen's. If you want to have te same sort of look then go with a launcher like ADW Launcher or LauncherPro. I am using LauncherPro and loving it.
With LauncherPro you CAN change the bottom three icon's. It even has a scrollable dock so you have have up to 12 icon's there!!
Darky's ROM's are constantly updated. It is one of the best! Like MarauderDeuce has said, Darkyy is currently at v9.5 for Froyo and 10.0 RC3 for gingerbread. I was using the gingerbread RC3 for a while but have just recently changed back to v9.5.

Which leads to the question - why? Smile

I changed back to 9.5 because I didn't like the few little bugs that I was experiencing. I wanted to wait for Darkyy to be out of RC, which will only occur when samsung release a final 2.3.3 firmware.

I mean, yeah, Gingerbread is good... but it's really not that much different. I have my v9.5 on 2.2.1 running just as smooth.

The only thing I am waiting for is TW 4.0. It should be good once that is included in the 2.3 firmwares.
