Using the Nexus one in the USA
I got my nexus one here in Australia via Vodafone, I am wondering if it is a GSM only version or is the phone CDMA compatible as per the specifications on the HTC website.
If anyone can help me on this it would be appreciated as I am wanting to use my phone while travelling around the USA in October and would like to know which carrier that I can use |

RE: Using the Nexus one in the USA
I have the same version that Vodafone Australia sells, but I got it from Google Nexus One Online Store while in USA. So mine has doesn't have the 850MHz band and can't do Next G, although I use Telstra pre-paid. Upon plonking my Telstra pre-paid SIM into the phone while in USA, it worked. Got no idea which carrier I was roaming through though.
Hope that info helps ya at least a bit. Google Nexus One @ froyo [2.2.1]| Huawei IDEOS u8150 @ froyo [2.2]| HTC Wildfire @ eclair [2.1-update1] | emulator @ whatever Android releases: - WeatherCell.net Australia BETA - SnowCell.net Australia Ski Slopes |

It helps a bit, but I am hoping that if it is able to connect to the CDMA network over in the USA that I will be able to use a prepaid sim from over there and not pay the roaming charges as I am sure that data would be a big cost |

RE: Using the Nexus one in the USA
I too am looking to get a prepaid sim while in the states in December.
I'm pretty sure you will be able to get on the CDMA bands...perhaps I am wrong though. Here is GSM Arena's standing on the specs. 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 3G Network HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100 HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - for AT&T, Rogers Wireless Let me know what provider you are going to go with. I've been trying to find a prepaid plan that has data included and can't seem to find one. Am I looking in the wrong place? I have the Galaxy S and will want to use that in the states and not incur massive roaming charges! Phone: SGS ROM: Ryyuu's EDB v1.3 Kernel: Dark Core Modem: XXJVQ |

Boost Mobile (http://www.boostmobile.com) have an unlimited plan for $2 a day but they only run a CDMA and a iDEN network. I am finding it very hard to find a carrier in the USA that does phone and data as a prepaid, especially if I am restricted to a GSM carrier (which are not that wide spread in the USA) |

RE: Using the Nexus one in the USA
Ahh right.
I'm only in the US for a week then hopping over to Canada for 3 weeks so I might just wait until I get to Canada then go with Rogers. They have awesome prepaid plans that include data. Phone: SGS ROM: Ryyuu's EDB v1.3 Kernel: Dark Core Modem: XXJVQ |
