ANDROID MARKET STALLING ON "DOWNLOAD STARTING" HEEEEEELPPPPPP

Hi Guys

Just wondering if anyone has had any problems downlaoding apps from the market.
I have had the occasional pause with downloading but usually stopping and restarting the download works

Today i am unable to download anything. I select an update or new app and it will just sit there with "Starting Download"

I have done a little research into this anf found various fixes from clearing data/cache from service apps to logging on to google talk before. None of this has worked an i can not get it working.

Data is working fine as i can browse the web and downlaod email fine

Any suggestions?

OK. I own a Galaxy S (though i have found in the past 36 hours that phone brand doesn't matter). I have been trying to download apps since Tuesday and every single app just stalls on "Starting Download" it doesn't matter what i do it just keeps stalling. Now today i rung up 2 friends who both have different phones and i went into allphones and the guys down there checked their phones too and all people i spoke to are having the same problem. So can anyone give me some sort of answer that seems to be eluding me. I am guessing it's some form of google android fk up and there's been no news whatsoever about it???. I am a new android phone user and after extensive googling today i can't seem to find out an answer here. Is this the sort of service i should expect from this massive international company?, hell if so i should just go swap my android phone for an iphone. Any informed answer would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah I'm having the same problem and google talk is not letting sign in off my phone thinking it maybe a google thing

Hi guys,

Well I haven't come across this issue at all. I have a Galaxy S and am not having download issues from the market. I know a couple of people who also have android phones and aren't having this issue either. So its not like its a world wide issue right now.

My suggestion would be to factory reset the phone and try again. I know it may be a useless thing to do, but if you take it back for repairs, that's the first thing they will tell you to do.

Give it a go and let us know the result.

EDIT: I can confirm that this is not an issue for me. Just downloaded "Jewls" on wi-fi and worked perfectly. I then turned off wi-fi and downloaded "TIME Mobile" on 3G and it worked perfectly.

My downloads are also working fine. They were working fine yesterday too. No hiccups.

I am having the same problem, but yesterday & today was/is a technology backwaters for me.

OK, I just did a factory reset. And android market is still not working for me. It still just hangs on the "Starting Download" green bar. To Harvz I am on optus and this problem started on tuesday. I'm about to give optus a call and see what they have to say. To the people who are having no problems with downloads can you let me know if your phones are rooted or have been modified in anyway ?. I rooted my phone and used lagfix last week and i was still downloading apps with no problems until tuesday.

That is all. No other tweaking has been done. No lagfix, no nothing. Just Root.
