Any feedback on the Motorola Backflip?

My son wants a Motorola Backflip. Does anyone own one and have any feedback to offer?

Also, I've seen threads saying that it is stuck on Android 1.5. Is that still the case because the Motorola product page says it's upgradeable to 2.1. Why don't they just release it with 2.1 is that's the case? See http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/US-EN/...-US-EN.alt

I've also seen this page which says upgrades are available depending on which country you are - https://supportforums.motorola.com/commu...eupgrades. What's that all about? Asia Pacific says it "will remain on Android 1.5". If that's the case are there hacks available to upgrade an Aussie Backflip to vsn 2.1?

Perhaps this phone's one to steer clear of? In which case, what other suggestions would people have instead?

It is stuck on 1.5.

I'd have to ask why he wants a backflip? The form factor is nifty, but the flipout is far superior in usability and software.
