Telstra has 2.1 update available for X10 mini Pro...
Just updated mine, restoring backup right now.
Need a computer for the update, cannot be done OTA. FYI, I had a small issue at the last stage of backing up - where you hold the back button while plugging in the usb cable - the phone did not detect and update automatically. I had "USB debugging" enabled so I could use PDAnet for tethering and figured this may be causing conflict. I disabled it, restarted phone and computer, and voila... ![]() All seems to be working well - Had to re-do widgets and a few other little things. Seems like you need to revisit the android marketplace to re-download/install your apps - make sure you're on wifi... Set aside a couple of hours to sort it all out. Richie

RE: Telstra has 2.1 update available for X10 mini Pro...
Was a bit.
It actually took two updates for it to complete. I was surprised to see after the first update that the firmware was still 1.6. PC Companion happily informed me after the update that there was new software available... Whatever, it worked fully the second time. The most noticeable improvement so far for me is that contacts are handed much better. No longer do I have heaps of duplicate google contacts for the same person (a royal pain before), plus facebook images and details are better integrated with synced gmail contacts like my HTC desire used to do. It was a minor pain to re-install apps, but I never had too many. Paid ones are still paid for, you just have to download and install them again (go to downloads tab in the marketplace). It was kinda cool to browse the marketplace all over again and see more choices than before (I guess 2.1 gives improved compatibility with many newer apps?) I would recommend you write down your favourite apps and reinstall from your list in case they do not show up in the downloads tab. (some of mine didn't the second time, including PDAnet which was always blocked I guess by telstra, but can be installed from the pc side) Liked the phone before, like it more now. Phone sized (not brick sized), with real keys, a slidey panel to fiddle with, and android to mess around customising - great. Don't even miss the higher res screen of the desire. Small is beautiful. One app I'd recommend - vignette makes the camera actually useful with digital zoom, but set it to quick pics to make it run quicker. Rich |
