Nexus S - Quasi Review
Hi,

Bunnybash was nice enough to bring a Nexus S back for a couple of us recently so if anyone has questions I'd be happy to answer them or give my opinion on the phone etc.

First point - Gizmodo has said that the GPS issues have carried from the Galaxy phones onto the Nexus S. This is false. My GPS locks on as soon as the Google Maps app loads.

RE: Nexus S - Pseudo Review
How does it compare as piece of hardware to the N1? I think you mentioned you had an N1...

Also gingerbread, is it awesome?

Hardware
Feels good in your hand. Lighter than the N1, feels solid, even though it is all plastic. Aesthetically it looks much better IMO :-)

External speaker sounds better/louder.

Screen is physically only a few mm larger, but holding it vertically you can notice the extra width.

It charges incredibly slowly off of a PC via USB, I heard some other people complain about this as well, I am not really sure what is up. My N1 charged slower off USB (rather than from the wall) but still probably twice as fast as the NS. I have now tried the NS by charging it on my wall charger and it charges a lot faster.

The SAMOLED screen is much brighter, in direct daylight is still barely readable though.

The curved screen - I don't really notice at any time...

Gingerbread
Some responsiveness is improved, such as the lag when sliding to unlock from the lock screen. but the default launcher is a little laggier than Launcher Pro.

Text selection is a lot better, I haven't missed the trackball selection at all, I am lot more accurate using all touch controls.

I like how Google have transitioned from greys to black in a lot of places, the orange glow when bumping into the end of a menu list is nice.
