Motorola Atrix
So this baby is pretty much confirmed as coming to our favourite Carrier in the world, Telstra.
Sporting the highest resolution screen we've seen on a commercial Android device and a dual-core processor, will you be getting one? It has a locked bootloader, so I won't.

RE: Motorola Atrix
As good as it sounded when it came out at CES i cant really see myself paying $$$ for the laptop style thing and apart from that there are going to be lots of phone with the same or better specs so we will wait and see what comes out at MWC in feb but i think the next phone i get will be a nexus with top end specs unlike the nexus s

RE: Motorola Atrix
I'm the proud owner of a Motorola Atrix. It's the AT&T version and supports 850/1900/2100, HSUPA is currently capped at 512k.
I have it running on Telstra, it's sim unlocked, rooted, sideloading enabled, and all AT&T bloat removed. Only had it a few days so still getting used to it, but first impressions are very positive. Whether you're thinking of getting one or you're just curious, feel free to ask me questions. Best speedtest is 4502/393 and the quadrant score is 2400 |

What are your thoughts on the higher res screen mate? Are the extra pixels a help in any way? Got any thoughts on contrast, motion handling, touch responsiveness, etc? Thanks, Geoff :-) |

Got any thoughts on contrast, motion handling, touch responsiveness, etc? Thanks, Geoff :-) Hey Geoff ![]() I really like the higher res screen, it's just one of the things that attracted me to this phone. First thing i noticed was that the icons are sharper and smaller, so small that the homescreens look too spaced out. I set ADW to 5 rows and it looks much better, plus I have the advantage of more space for widgets. Web browsing has also improved because I can fit more on the screen. Contrast is not as good as my previous phone the Captivate (US Galaxy S). The difference is especially noticeable in tweetdeck where the background is much closer to grey than it is to black. Otherwise I find the move from samoled to TFT to be OK. Touch responsiveness is great, about as good as the Captivate and stacks better than the Nexus One. General performance is very impressive, although with tegra2 and 1gb of ram I would have been disappointed if it wasnt. Everything happens straight away, web pages load very quickly, apps install instantly. Overall very happy with the purchase |

Cool. Glad you're happy. I wish the sgs 2 had qHD or more but maybe the extra subpixels will make up for it. Motorola have gained a powerful ally in you mate. Enjoy speeding without the ticket!

RE: Motorola Atrix
Hi, I am new to Android and I just bought a Motorola Atrix. I thought I would join this forum to have a look. At the moment I am still learning and finding apps and finding the best way to use my phone. There are still a few minor irritations which I need to work out, but other than that it's already better than my iPhone4. Will ask some questions later when I think of them

RE: Motorola Atrix
Welcome and congrats on the purchase
The bootloader was unlocked last week so the development scene for this phone will start to really warm up now. As you have come from iPhone it will take a while to adjust to android, probably best you get used to the new operating before you start changing it! Feel free to ask any questions |

RE: Motorola Atrix
Thanks for the welcome
I am amazed at the versatility of this thing. I really have been living under a rock for the past few years - being drip fed incremental upgrades. I do have a couple of questions, though. I have my own theories about them but I am not sure if I am right or not. Here goes. 1. Can not add pictures to the Contacts app. Symptom: try to add a picture, but the moment you go back to the main screen, the picture has disappeared. I have noticed that I do not have a problem with any of my non-Facebook friends. My theory is that Motoblur preferences the Facebook picture over any picture I try to add, even if the Facebook account contains no picture. I have tried deleting my Facebook account from Motoblur, but it says "Sorry, and error has occurred. Try again later". I have tried a fresh reboot and kill all apps that might be using FB, but Motoblur still stops me from removing the FB account. I suspect there are hidden tasks running which are using the Motoblur FB connection which I need to kill before Motoblur allows me to delete the FB account. Hopefully, I won't have to go through what this guy went through. How do I get Facebook off Motoblur?? 2. Can not use Google Voice Command. I was quite excited when I saw this video but when I tried it on my phone - e.g. "send text to Amfibius" - it would pull up a Google search on the web for "send text to Amfibius" instead of launching the SMS app. The speed and accuracy of the Google Voice Command app is way superior to the built-in Atrix app. After a bit of Googling, I found that you need to have Google Voice installed - which is not available to Australians. Am I stuck? |

Try going into Gmail on a PC and adding pictures to your contacts that way. The Gmail contact pic should take precedence. 2.) Go into settings - Voice input and output settings. Make sure the settings are correct. Then to use voice actions, long hold on the Search key soft button (next to back). It will bring up the voice input interface and allow you to call or send text etc from there. |
